Understanding Dengue Fever in Bali
Know When Fever is Dengue
Dengue fever is endemic in Bali. It is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito and can become life-threatening without proper monitoring. Unlike regular flu, Dengue requires specific clinical management including platelet monitoring and careful fluid management.
Classic Dengue Signs:
- Sudden high fever (39–40°C)
- Severe headache behind the eyes
- Red/pink skin rash after day 3
- Severe joint and muscle pain ("bone-breaking fever")
- Easy bruising or bleeding gums
Our Dengue Response:
- On-site rapid NS1 antigen test (day 1–5)
- Platelet count monitoring
- IV fluid management to prevent shock
- Daily follow-up until fever breaks
- Hospital transfer coordination if critical
Flu & Fever Treatment — FAQ
Seek medical attention immediately if temperature exceeds 38.5°C (101.3°F), persists beyond 24 hours, or is accompanied by severe headache, rash, eye pain, or difficulty breathing — as these may indicate Dengue fever.
Yes. Dengue is endemic in Bali and cases rise during rainy season (October–April). Our doctors carry rapid NS1 antigen tests for on-site Dengue diagnosis to rule it out quickly and plan appropriate treatment.
In most cases, yes. Uncomplicated flu and fever can be fully managed at your villa with medications, IV hydration, and rest. Our doctor will assess whether hospital care is needed and coordinate any referral if required.
Yes. Our doctors can prescribe and administer antibiotic injections or oral antibiotics on-site when a bacterial infection is clinically indicated. We do not prescribe antibiotics unnecessarily.
If your condition requires hospital-level care (e.g., severe Dengue with dropping platelets, pneumonia, or sepsis), our doctor will coordinate a safe and informed transfer to the most appropriate hospital in Bali.
